When we thought of Taketa,
two images stayed with us: a moon and a bell.

I. THE MOON

A town reflected in
the moon.

Oka Castle and Rentaro Taki’s “Kojo no Tsuki” (Moon over the Ruined Castle).
Mikazuki Rock, its carved crescent overlooking the stage for Taketa’s outdoor Noh performances.

Looking at Taketa’s landscapes and culture, we find the moon in many places. We chose it as one symbol of what this town means to us.

II. THE BELL

A town’s history held in
a bell.

Preserved in Taketa, the Santiago Bell is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. It bears the inscriptions “HOSPITAL・SANTIAGO” and “1612”.

How did it find its way to this town? Parts of its journey remain unknown. For us, the bell represents a connection to the history that Taketa has carried forward.

A NAME ROOTED IN TAKETA

The town,
in a single emblem.

We chose the moon and the bell as our symbols of Taketa.
Our feeling for the moon became our name: Mikazuki — “crescent moon” — Coffee Roastery.
The crescent and the Santiago Bell came together in our logo.

We hope you will discover something of this town’s history and landscape
over a cup of coffee.
